Alexis Lyons

Hello! My name is Alexis Lyons, but everyone calls me Alex. I am a Wildlife major at Purdue University and will be a senior this fall. I have attended the Purdue Wildlife Practicum, a 5-week intensive fieldwork practicum and I have experience with bird banding, small mammal trapping, vegetation surveys, and more.

I decided to participate in the REEU internship because I have a passion for teaching other people about animals and the environment, and am interested in careers involving extension with people that have learning disabilities. I have ADHD and it has been a fundamental aspect of my learning and education. I know the struggles of growing up with ADHD and how it can negatively impact the learning process, especially if the subject is not interesting or engaging.

Going forward, I am excited to undergo the research process and explore ways to educate others about natural resources that are engaging and informative.
