Taylor's Recap - Week 7

Reece and Taylor at Riverfest

I cannot believe that our second to last week is over. The last weeks of this internship have really flown by. Saturday was Riverfest and it was a lot of fun. Reece and I set out of water cycle bracelet game and the children seem to really like it. We would go through cycles of either having no to one kid or having about 15 at one time. Some parents and older kids were even making bracelets so that was nice. Overall I think that Riverfest was a big success. Sunday we all took a trip up to the Dunes National Park up by Lake Michigan. It was such a nice break to go and spend a day at the beach. Megan’s mom came and brought us a feast of food to eat on the beach which was super nice of her. Wednesday we all got to go to the IMAX premiere in Indianapolis for a presentation on soundscaping. It ended up being a surprisingly fun experience. I ended up learning a lot about soundscaping and the presentation piqued my interest in using sound as a way of determining diversity.

Research wise, Reece and I ran a statistical analysis, made all of our figures and tables, and got our draft of our manuscript, powerpoint, and poster together. The stats did not end up being what I was expecting at all which was interesting. We ended up getting a lot of insignificant results, but that is just how research goes. After putting all the figures together I realized that we have an insane amount of data, a lot more than I initially realized. I am really excited for this weekend because we are going to White Rock which is a park where you can go cliff diving. I am also really sad because this is the last weekend that we will all be able to spend together before parting ways.
